Blog Post: Welcome to!

Good morning everyone!!

Welcome to! After what feels like forever, I have finally refreshed my website to a cleaner, brighter and happier look! I have some lovely new artwork (drawn and photo-shopped by yours truly!) and I am really excited to share it with you!

I started talking about refreshing thebookkat early last year however, there were some challenges in 2016 that meant I lost a little faith in myself and in my ability to get it done. I am a perfectionist at heart and while I really, really wanted to design the artwork myself (banner and logo) I wasn’t sure it would ever be good enough – I’m not sure who it was meant to be good enough for! It has taken months of frustration (at myself) and tears (my own) to put together the new-look thebookkat but I am really happy with how it has turned out. The artwork is a reflection of the things I love most – books and art – with a little me in there too! Arrows are a common motif but at this point in my life, I really feel like they’re a good fit! I also wanted to incorporate a book – of course – with a geometric look. It took a really long time for it to all come together but I am really happy – it is all me!

As the months progress, I am hoping to get back into a routine of writing regular book reviews as well as adding some new features to the website! To start with, I have revised the ‘Lists’ section to be smaller, themed lists. I have started with two  – my top 5 authors and the books that started my love of young adult books! Enjoy!

I want to thank you all for your loyalty and support thus far… I can’t wait to share more brilliant books with you in the months to come 🙂
